Hagar Aboubakr is a passionate educator with nearly 25 years of experience, including classroom teaching, school leadership, education consulting, and teacher development. In these contexts, she has led instructional teams in their practices and professional development, led an International Baccalaureate authorization process to fruition, and participated in further accreditations across multiple schools. Her classroom teaching experience spans across elementary and middle school levels. She has also organized homeschool co-ops, teaching homeschooled children and working closely with families and organizations at the community level.

Hagar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She maintains active teacher certification for grades 1-6 in both Maryland and Massachusetts and is currently pursuing a second Master’s Degree in Education Leadership, with a PreK-12 focus at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Hagar’s educational and leadership practices are rooted in principles of equity, accessibility, servant leadership, student ownership, experiential learning, parent engagement, and teacher empowerment. Hagar especially values holistic and student-centered teaching and learning, fostering the development of teachers’ pedagogical practices, and building relationships with all stakeholders of the educational community. She is deeply committed to Islamic education and fully believes in the potential it carries to nurture the Muslim identity, create spaces of belonging, and to foster righteous character, rooted in the prophetic model. She is grateful and honored to continue her journey in education at Al-Rahmah School and to contribute to the advancement of Islamic schooling and education.

Hagar is a mother of three children and describes herself as a lifelong learner. She enjoys reading, volunteering, walking, cooking, leading fitness challenges for women, and, when she has time, working on her passion project, which aims to provide free, high-quality academic support to underserved and refugee children.
