Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh!
Dear ARS Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you and your family in the best health and iman.
Ramadan Kareem!
May Allah SWT accept all our ibadah, duas, and charity, and increase us in good this Ramadan. Ameen.
The observance of Ramadan is always unique and personal, but our shared goal is always to grow spiritually by strengthening the connection with Allah SWT through sacrifice and self-reflection.
Let me share with you how ARS is facilitating this as we collectively embark on this spiritual journey with our students and staff this Ramadan 🙂
Daily Ramadan Activities at ARS:
(A) Morning Assembly:
Ramadan Trivia: We have Ramadan Trivia in the morning assembly to review and reinforce the significance of Ramadan.
Good Deed Calendar: Daily, one new good deed will be introduced in the assembly from our Ramadan “Good Deed Calendar” to encourage students to work with their friends and families to collect rewards during this blessed month.
(B) Lunch Schedule and Special School Assembly:
KG-4th: No change to the lunch schedule. Students engage in dhikr after salah.
5th-8th: After lunch, students meet in the gym at 1: 20 pm for collective remembrance until Dhuhr salah.
Recitation of the Quran
Khatirah
Pray Tahiyyat Al-Masjid and Sunnah
(C)Ful-Filled Activities for our Students During Ramadan:
(i) Salah competition: AIQ teachers will share the information packet on different arkan of the salah. Students will memorize and understand the significance of different arkan to improve their khusuaa in salah. This is an in-class competition that AIQ teachers will be assessing.
(ii) Classroom Door Decoration Contest: All ARS students with their homeroom teachers will compete for the best-decorated door.
Theme is: “A United Ummah.”
(iii) Eid Card Exchange: ARS is participating in the Eid Card Exchange program with other islamic schools in the area. Each class will be given a theme for students to create a card for a student from another school, and then ARS will mail it to them, insha Allah.
(iv) Quran-a-thon: Students will compete in finishing quran with each other. An excellent way to connect with Allah SWT, gain hasanth, and increase ibadah during Ramadan. Teachers will give the Reading log for them to record the minutes they spend every day during Ramadan.
(D) Fun-filled activities for our ARS Families:
Ramadan Around the World- a virtual exhibit: Alhamdulilah, to foster the Islamic identity and to extend an opportunity for self-reflection to our students at home, our AIQ team created a self-directed bitmoji classroom. Several activities may challenge and tickle students’ creativity and imagination. For example, you could tune in to hear various kinds of athans from around the world, recipes for iftar and suhoor, books for Ramadan reading, Read-a-loud, arts/ crafts, etc.
Explore the Ramadan Bitmoji classroom here with your families.
Duaa Book:
Also, please, find the Dua and Morning athkar book below. Our students have been learning and memorizing these duas. Please, continue to work with your child this Ramadan.
JazakAllah khair, Sr. Huneen, Sr. Aicha Adif, Sr. Nagla badawi, Sr. Manal El-Amin, Sh. Maryam Azam and Sr. Baderah Abudweih for creating this resource for our students and parents.
(E) Ramadan Programming at ISB:
Don’t forget our masjid, the Islamic Society of Baltimore, ISB, is doing excellent programming this Ramadan to engage with children of all ages and adults to have a fulfilling and productive Ramadan. We are sending a booklet home today with your child. Please check.
