Al-Rahmah Ramadan fun!
Guess Who? #15
- He is the cousin of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, and the older brother of Ali, his uncle Al-Abbas took charge of him and raised him in his house when he was young.
- He and his wife were among those who migrated to Abyssinia where he gave the speech in front of the king of Abyssinia that was moving and eloquent and which is still one of the most compelling descriptions of Islam, the appeal of the noble Prophet, and the depravity of Meccan society.
- He and his wife Asma spent about ten years in Abyssinia. There, Asma gave birth to three children whom they named Abdullah, Muhammad, and Awn. Their second child was possibly the first child in the history of the Muslim Ummah to be given the name Muhammad after the noble Prophet (S).
- In the seventh year of the hijrah, He and his family left Abyssinia and headed for Madinah. When they arrived the Prophet was just returning from the successful conquest of Khaybar. He was so overjoyed at meeting him that he said: “I do not know what fills me with more happiness, the conquest of Khaybar or the coming of YOU”
- At 8 years of Hijarrah, at The Battle of Mu’tah, he was the second of the three commanders that were appointed by the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
- He was a martyr in the Battle of Muta where he also gained the title of AT-Tayar or Thul-Janahayeen, the person with two wings.
